When should I book my baby’s newborn session?

The best time to book is during your Second Trimester. I am only able to accept 8-10 newborn portrait session bookings per month at maximum to allow for rescheduling babies who arrive earlier or later than their anticipated due dates. Bookings are limited to ensure this flexibility for my clients and to ensure every family I work with receives a custom, full-service experience. These limited spots fill up fast, so it's best to reserve your session date at least 2 to 3 months in advance.

How old should my baby be for his/her newborn portraits?

Newborn portrait sessions are scheduled to take place during a very short window of time, 9 to 21 days after birth. During this stage, babies sleep much more deeply and haven't really discovered their limbs yet, which helps achieve those sleepy curled-up pose you see in newborn photography.

How do I book when I don't know when my baby will arrive?

Your booking guarantees my availability within the first 3 weeks after your baby is born, regardless of when that ends up being. Think of it as on-call, in a way. We book a tentative date based on your due date & then confirm the session date once baby arrives.

My baby is already here! Can you squeeze him/her in?

I occasionally have last-minute spots open up when previously booked babies arrive earlier or later than anticipated. If your baby is due soon, has already been born, or is already older than three weeks, please contact me via e-mail to inquire about a potential opening.

What do I need to bring?

Your session is completely customized for you and I provide absolutely everything. Your session includes full access to my ever-growing collection of custom newborn props & handmade textiles. Blankets, bonnets, wraps, tiny teddies, headbands, flower crowns, beds, buckets, baskets, - everything needed for your session. Just bring your adorable baby and a diaper bag!

I have something special I'd like to use. Is that ok?

If it's important to you, it's important to me. If there is something special like a family heirloom or a sentimental item that you would like to include in your baby's portraits, just let me know ahead of time and I will gladly plan a meaningful and beautiful way to incorporate it into your son or daughter’s portraits.

Can we include family portraits, as well?

Absolutely! Family is always encouraged to participate in the session. Remember, these portraits aren’t just for Mom and Dad - someday your son or daughter will look back on these images of themselves so tiny with their proud, new parents and cherish them just as much, if not more, than even you do! Family portraits really have my heart. Every newborn session includes fully-guided family poses, individual parent poses with baby, sibling poses (if baby has big brothers or big sisters!), and creative family ‘detail poses’ (such as Mom and Dad’s hands around baby or baby’s tiny hand holding onto Dad’s finger, etc.) Family is included at no additional charge.

What is included in my newborn portrait session?

A phone consultation to plan your session, a 2-4 hour newborn portrait session, fully-guided family/parent/sibling poses, everything needed for your newborn session (all backdrops, props, wraps, outfits, and accessories) in the color pallette of your choice, your Reveal & Ordering Appointment three weeks after your session, and the custom designing and ordering of your favorite custom products.

How much does a newborn portrait sessions cost?

The newborn portrait session fee is $250 and includes everything listed above - this amount is due to reserve your due date on my calendar. As a boutique portrait studio specializing in finished artwork, your total investment will vary depending on the products you decide to purchase at your Reveal & Ordering Appointment. Create-Your-Own-Collection packages which allow you to mix and match heirloom albums, luxury portrait boxes, wall art, and digital images begin at $1100. Or digital-only packages begin at $800.
